Three years after the death of his first wife Rio Ferdinand is set to tie the knot with Kate Wright.
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has announced his engagement to reality TV personality Kate Wright on Thursday, November 1.
Ferdinand who is now retired and on punditry duties with BT Sport popped the question to his partner while on vacation with his three children in Abu Dhabi.
The duo have been in an intimate relationship with for over two years after Ferdinand lost his first wife Rebecca Ellison, in 2015.
Ellison passed away in 2015 at the age of 34 after a long standing battle with breast cancer which ultimately took her life.
Kate has always said that Ellison is an irreplaceable mother to her children Lorenz the eldest at 12, Tate who is 10 and Tia the youngest at seven.
The announcement of their engagement was announced on both of their social media accounts.
Ferdinand said, “She said yes.How these 3 kids kept it a secret I’ll never know”
While Kate said, “The perfect end to our holiday … How could the answer not be yes”
Kate has stated that Ferdinand’s children want a younger one to be able to play with as there has not been an official confirmation of when a possible wedding could take place.
